Privacy Policy - DebugFitter

Privacy policy for the Android app "DebugFitter" for health and fitness.

1. General Information

2. Data Collected and Accessed

DebugFitter does not collect, transmit, or send any of your data to remote servers. All data remains on your device. The app accesses the following health and fitness data types through Health Connect:

  • Exercise Sessions (read/write): The app can read existing workout sessions and create new ones with start/end times, activity type, and notes.
  • Distance (read): Total distance covered during exercise sessions, measured in meters.
  • Steps (read): Step count data recorded by your device or connected sensors.

No email, Google account information, device identifiers, or personal identifiers are collected or transmitted.

3. Data Stored Locally on Your Device

DebugFitter does not maintain its own database or local storage for health data. All health and fitness data is stored exclusively within Health Connect, which is Android's centralized health data platform. Health Connect data is:

  • Encrypted and stored securely on your device.
  • Accessible only to apps you have explicitly granted permission to.
  • Under your full control — you can view, manage, and delete it at any time through the Health Connect app or your device settings.

The app does not store any preferences, settings, or user data outside of Health Connect.

4. How Information Is Used

All accessed health data is used solely for the core functionality of the app:

  • Reading existing exercise sessions, distance, and step data to display your fitness history within the app.
  • Creating new exercise sessions when you log a workout through the app.

No data is used for advertising, analytics, profiling, machine learning, or any purpose unrelated to the app's functionality.

5. Data Sharing and Third Parties

DebugFitter does not sell, rent, or share user data with third parties, advertising networks, data brokers, or analytics services. No health or fitness data is transmitted over the network.

Health Connect acts as an intermediary platform — other apps on your device can only access your health data if you have explicitly granted them permission through the Health Connect permission system.

6. App Permissions

DebugFitter requires the following permission to function:

  • Health Connect (android.permission.health.READ_HEALTH_DATA / android.permission.health.WRITE_HEALTH_DATA): Required to read and write health data through the Health Connect API. You grant specific data type permissions (exercise sessions, distance, steps) through the Health Connect consent screen, which you can review and revoke at any time in your device settings.

The app does not request any other Android permissions such as location, camera, microphone, contacts, or network access.

7. Health Connect

DebugFitter uses Health Connect, Android's centralized health data platform, to read and write fitness data. Key details:

  • Health Connect is installed and managed by Google on your device.
  • You control which apps can read and write each type of health data.
  • You can revoke DebugFitter's access at any time through Health Connect settings.
  • All data stored in Health Connect remains on your device and is not sent to Google servers by Health Connect itself.

8. Security

DebugFitter implements the following security measures:

  • No network permissions are requested — the app cannot connect to the internet.
  • All health data is stored within Health Connect's encrypted sandbox on your device.
  • The app does not store any passwords, authentication tokens, or account credentials.
  • Access to health data requires explicit user consent through the Health Connect permission flow.

9. Data Retention and Deletion

Health Connect: Health data (exercise sessions, distance, steps) written by DebugFitter is stored in Health Connect until you delete it. You can manage and delete individual records through the Health Connect app or your device settings.

App uninstall: Uninstalling DebugFitter does not automatically delete the health data it has written to Health Connect. You must delete this data manually through Health Connect if desired. Uninstalling the app does revoke all Health Connect permissions granted to it.

10. User Rights

Users have full control over their health data:

  • You can grant or revoke Health Connect permissions for DebugFitter at any time through your device settings.
  • You can view, edit, or delete individual health records through the Health Connect app.
  • You can uninstall the app to prevent any further access to your health data.
  • No account or registration is required — the app works entirely with local data through Health Connect.

11. Children's Privacy

DebugFitter does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The app does not require registration, accounts, or any personal identifiers. Health data accessed through Health Connect is stored locally on the device and is never transmitted externally.

12. Changes to This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Users are encouraged to review it periodically. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last revised.
